The Azerbaijani Ministry of Transport held a session on construction of a sea bridge in the Bay of Baku, assisted by Korean specialists from the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Turan reports.
The meeting was devoted to considering the technical aspects of the project, with the participation of the deputy minister, Musa Pakhanov, a representative of KOICA in Azerbaijan, Yung Wu Kim, experts of the Korean corporation Expressway and the executive companies Dongsung Engineering, Chungsuk Engineering and Dodam E&C. The 12-month project started in July 2010 and is aimed at improving the transport infrastructure of the Azerbaijani capital and construction of a bridge in the Bay of Baku.
This will be a multi-kilometer-long bridge from the village of Bailov along the Bay of Baku to the village of Akhmedly. The project is projected to cost $1.5 billion and will be realized in several years. It will reduce the journey between Bailov and Akhmedly and close the center of the city to freight transport.
