Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at the governmental commission for socio-economic development of the North Caucasian Federal District today that distributors of electricity for gross purchasers had reached 24 billion rubles, growing by 4 billion rubles in 10 months, Gazeta.ru reports.
He urged the Interior Ministry, the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological and Nuclear Oversight, the Ministry for Energy and the Prosecutor General’s Office to check distribution and network companies that have electricity debts. Energy Minister Alexander Novak recommended the Ministry for Regional Development to include the level of debt for fuel and energy resources in ratings of efficiency of governors.
An intergovernmental working group was formed on December 10, 2012, to solve the problem of payments. The group has encouraged organizations in the North Caucasus to make full payments for electricity. Medvedev clarified that Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia had 100% discipline of payments.
