Public transport in Sochi will work almost around the clock, which will increase the carrying capacity by 50% during the Olympics.
From February 1, 109 buses of city and commuter routes of regular communication, designed primarily to connect railway stations, will operate in the city. 786 buses will operate daily, 209 of large capacity.
"The system is completely ready. Now adjustments are being made to the termini. The biggest step for us was the replacement of the transport stock. We are fully prepared for a significant increase in passenger traffic. When guests start arriving in the city we will increase the number of buses on routes and extend the time of their work," the head of the transport and communications resort administration Alexei Smaglyuk said.
If at the moment electric trains are operating at 50% of the Olympic schedule, then by 7 February the traffic will be operating at 100%, with a minimum interval of motion of about 6 minutes. Train trips will be free.
Passenger traffic on regular routes in the city will operate from 5.00 am to 2.00 am.
