German company Siemens Energy has won a tender to build two
high-voltage lines to Georgia, which will connect the Georgian energy
system with the Turkish one, RusCable.Ru reports.
The deal is part of the Black Sea Transmission Network Project. The
two 350 megawatt power lines will transmit energy produced by various
power plants in Georgia and Turkey. The initiator of the project is
'Energotrans', registered in Tbilisi, Georgia.
The deal is worth $215 million. The first power line is scheduled to
be completed in late May 2012, and the whole project should be
completed in May 2013.
