Ukraine offers Poland to extend the Odessa-Brody pipeline to Plock

Minister of the Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Prodan said that Ukraine has resumed negotiations with Poland on the extension of the Odessa - Brody pipeline to Plock (Poland), reports Interfax-Ukraine.

The oil pipeline Odessa-Brody (length of 674 kilometers; capacity of 9 million tons per year), linking the oil terminal "Pivdenniy" (Odessa region) and the system of trunk pipelines "Druzhba" in the area of Brody (Lviv region) was introduced in 2001. Originally it was built for pumping light Caspian oil to Europe, but was idle until 2004, and then was used in the reverse mode (in the direction of the terminal "Pivdenniy").

There is a project to extend the Odessa-Brody pipeline by 490 km to Plock (Poland) and then to Gdansk on the Baltic Sea. The Sarmatia joint venture was established for its construction. A feasibility study and plans for implementation of the Euro- Asian Oil Transportation Corridor (EOTC) based on the use of the Odessa-Brody pipeline have already been prepared.
