Ali Jakhandideh, deputy director of the Iranian Organization for Ports and Navigation, said at the signing of a deal between his Organization and the Export Development Bank of Iran that contracts worth 3.5 trillion tomans (about $1.1 billion) for development of maritime ports and transportation were ready for signing. Related projects being studied were worth about 2 trillion tomans ($about $625 million), Iran.ru reports.
Jakhandideh noted that Iran will become the regional leader in maritime transportation and port servicing in 11 years. He reminded that over 90% of exports and imports of Iran were serviced using maritime ports. The Organization for Ports and Navigation secures banks.
