Ali Reza Jakhangirian, Iranian deputy minister for roads and road construction, the director of the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization, told the parliamentary commission for improvements that the number of civilian aircraft in Iran will increase four-fold and capacity of airports will double, Iran.ru reports.
Iran will have at least 600 civil plans in 11 years. Their average lifespan is 21 years, so the country will need to import up to 50 planes a year.
Iran will need to implement the complex program for development of the aerospace industry, the five-year program and the program for prospective development until 2025, develop infrastructure, expand the number of aircraft, train skilled professionals and modernize the aviation system.
Iranian airports will transport about 100 million passengers a year in 2025. Airports will need to exceed capacity to over 150 million passengers (80 million at the moment). Iran has 70 passenger airports and 250 civil aviation planes, about 100 of which need repairing.
