The traffic on the Georgian Military Road was resumed at 5pm on Sunday.
"As the situation in the Republic of Georgia has normalized and the danger of a new mudslide is now much lower, the traffic has been resumed in both direction, except to heavy-loaded lorries," the official website of the North Caucasus office of the Russian Ministry of Emergencies announced.
According to the ministry, the Russian special services are ready to react to any emergency in the region.
The road, which connects Georgia and Armenia to Russia, was damaged by a severe muslide in the Darial Gorge on August 20. Traffic on the road has been stopped ever since.
The Georgian cabinet and public paid special attention to the catastrophe in the region.
