Ministers of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India (TAPI) have
signed an agreement in Ashkhabad to built the TAPI gas pipeline, Trend
reports, citing a press-release.
They also signed a protocol with supplements to the points of the
agreement on purchase and sales of gas, schedule of sessions of the
technical working group and supervising committee of TAPI in
October-November, where final versions of the agreements will be made.
Participants of the meeting emphasized the importance of the project,
which will provide long-term supplies of natural gas from Turkmenistan
to the largest countries of South Asia and will help in stable
social-economic development, as well as the strengthening of peace and
stability in Asia.
The pipeline will be 1 680 km long, with a capacity of 30 billion
cubic m annually. It will start in the Dovletabad gas field going
through Great and Kandahar (Afghanistan), through the Kvett regions
(Pakistan) to Fazlak on Indian-Pakistani border. According to
preliminary estimations the project is worth $3.3 billion.
