The Russian government intends to take tough measures to regulate grain exports to primarily meet the needs of the country and to prevent price increases.
In particular, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that the government will establish temporary administrative restrictions on the export of grain. Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich declared the introduction of export duties. And Agriculture Minister Nikolai Fyodorov announced the use of "tough measures." "In case there is no result on regulating minimum purchase prices (under government intervention - VK), it will be necessary to consider other pretty tough measures," Tass quotes him as saying. Whether this includes an embargo on exports, the minister did not clarify.
Earlier in December, the Ministry of Agriculture raised the value of grain in the state fund from 6,500 to 10,000 rubles per ton of 3rd class wheat, to bring them to the level of exports, Fedorov added.
