Russian parliament to consider Turkish nuclear power plant deal

The Russian government has introduced a deal for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Turkey to the State Duma for ratification, RIA Novosti reports, citing the official site of the lower chamber of parliament.

The power plant is planned to be constructed on the 'Akkauyu' platform. 4 Russian energy blocks will be constructed. The agreement was signed in Ankara on May 12, 2010. A company will be established for the issue, 100% of its shares will belong to organizations supervised by the Russian side.

The Turkish state company Tetash guarantees the purchase of energy produced by the power plant for 12.35 cents per 1 kilowatt/h: 70% of energy from the first and second energy blocks, 30% from the third and fourth energy blocks. The rest of the energy will be realized on the
free market.

The realization of the agreement will require state support in the form of credits.
