Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbaev intends to share Kazakhstan's experience in the spheres of nuclear weapons non-proliferation, threat prevention of nuclear terrorism and peaceful use of atomic energy with Barack Obama during the meeting in Washington, reports Interfax.
"Our experience appeared to be useful for our country and can be useful for the entire world," - said Nazarbaev, report sources in the White House.
Following the meeting of the presidents, senior director on the U.S. National Security Council, Mike McFaul, reported at the press conference that this was the first official meeting of the two presidents and continued for an hour.
"President Barack Obama has noted that the participation of the Kazakh president was important, since Kazakhstan had withdrawn from nuclear weapons and shown that, by these means, the country gained the support of the international community, the trust of neighboring countries and investment", reported McFaul, adding " Iran has chosen another position, which was discussed as well."
The joint statement of the two presidents, reported following the meeting, said that they both share a view of the world without nuclear weapons.
During the meeting Barack Obama expressed support for the intentions of Kazakhstan to become a member of the board of directors of the IAEA. The US president was also invited to visit Kazakhstan.
