The Samson-Jaykhan oil pipeline project needs tax benefits on the Turkish territory to provide a competitive prices, the head of Transneft Nikolay Tokarev said in an interview with a corporate magazine, RIA Novosti reports.
Samsun-Jaykhan is planned to be built from the Turkish Black Sea city Samsun to the port of Jaykhan. The project will transport 60-70 million tons of oil annually, avoiding Bosporus and Dardanelles. The project will be realized with the assistance of Russian companies.
Tokarev said that Russia handed the project of the document to Turkey in late September, prepared by Transneft and approved by Rosneft, another Russian participant of the project.
The Deputy Minister of Energy Anatoliy Yanovskiy said that Russia handed over the project of the inter-government oil pipeline project of Samsun-Jaykhan to the Turkish authorities, with a plan to transport 25 million tons annually.
Turkey had given a preliminary agreement to the project but took a timeout to reconsider the conditions.
Tokarev said in early September that Turkey wanted to provide itself with benefits in the project and was offering unprofitable conditions to Russia.
