The world bank within the second programme of “Quality and compliance of education” will allow a $5 million credit to Armenia for reforms in the education sector in 2010, ARKA reports, citing Armen Ashotyan, Armania’s Minister of Education and Science.
According to Ashotyan the programme started in December 2009 but due to the changes in the regional experts of WB we still haven’t received any money. “Currently, we’re getting to know the new staff, all 2010’s programmes are at the stage of preliminary development.” – Ashotyan said.
He added that the WB finances will be used in 2010 to improve academic programmes and education methods, preparations of children for primary schools and integration of Armenian higher education into European standards.
WB board of management approved a $25 million credit for Armenia on 13th May 2008 for second programme of “Quality and compliance of education.” The budget allocations for Armenian education in 2010 are planned to measure 95.4 billion drams ($240.6 million)
