Healthcare optimization in North Ossetia helps save 36.5 million rubles

The reduction of over 350 beds and a similar amount of healthcare workers in North Ossetia in 2014 helped save 36.5 million rubles. Upkeep of every bed costs about 2,500 rubles a day, according to North Ossetian Healthcare Minister Vladimir Selivanov, Yuga.ru reports.

North Ossetian hospitals have about a thousand beds that can be disposed of. The minister added that the saved funds could be used to buy a CT scanner.

The MRI Diagnostic Center in Beslan will open in May. North Ossetians will no longer need to go to other regions for MRI scanning.

The optimization process will continue this year.
