The Head of Crimea, Sergey Aksenov, said at a meeting with farmers in Simferopol today that the 10,000 hectares the Massandra wine company occupies are excessive. Aksenov admitted that he had talked with Yanina Pavlenko, the director of the company, and asked her to give details on the land needed for wine production, Interfax reports.
Oleg Podolko, the head of the Crimean territorial office of the Russian Department of Presidential Affairs, had earlier informed that Massandra had lost over half of its vineyards while Crimea had been a part of Ukraine.
As of 1991, Massandra owned 26 hectares of land. The Council of Ministers of Crimea passed management of Massandra to the Department of Presidential Affairs in autumn 2014.
