The Russian State Duma today adopted in the second and third readings a law taking the Rostov region off of the list of regions with gambling zones, RIA-Novosti reports. The law also abolishes the rule, according to which a decision to close a gambling zone can only be taken 10 years after it has been created.
Earlier, the authorities of the Krasnodar region proposed moving the gambling zone Azov-City to the free zone of the Russia Black Sea cost in order to "increase its economic efficiency". The governor of the Rostov region asked the speaker of State Duma Boris Gryzlov in return not to exclude the region from the list of the regions eligible to establish a gambling zone.
The law will come into force only if the Federation Council and the president sign it. According to the law, there are four gambling zones in Russia in five regions.
