The Baku-Tbilisi-Jeihan pipeline will have a capacity of 1.6 million
barrels, Turkish Minister for Trade Zafer Caglayan said, Trend
reports.
Caglayan met Georgian Georgian Minister of Regional Development and
Infrastructure Ramaz Nikolaishvili.
Caglayan said that the trade turnover between Turkey and Georgia in
2006-2009 increased by 40% and exceeded $1 billion.
Turkey is Georgia's largest partner both in exports and imports.
Turkish exports to Georgia increased by 4.3%, or $633 million, from
January 1 to October 25. The two countries are using the airport in
Batumi together, Caglayan said.
According to the Turkish minister, Turkish contractors are working on
83% of Georgian projects worth over $1 billion.
Turkish contractors have projects in 83 countries worth $170 billion.
Direct foreign investments from Turkey to Georgia reach approximately
$636.4 million in 1997-2009 and $20.3 million in the first quarter of
2010.
Nikolaishvili said that ministers of transport of Azerbaijan, Georgia
and Turkey had a recent trilateral meeting where they were working on
the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railroad project.
