Tigran Parvanyan, expert of the International Finance Corporation
(IFC) and member of the World Bank, said that Armenian small hydro
electric plants have serious problems in projecting and construction,
NEWS.AM reports.
A lack of financing often leads to the purchase of 'cheap' projects
that have ecological and engineering risks. IFC will invite a foreign
engineering company to inspect the small hydro electric plants and
rectify the problems.
Parvanyan said that deviations from the projects during construction
are common in Armenia. Improper construction has a penalty of only
$800, which is insufficient, Parvanyan points out.
