Georgian president announces new economic course

Georgia is launching a new economic policy, which aims at ensuring
minimal bureaucratic arrangements for customs clearance, reducing the
pressure of tax administration on business and the introduction of the
institution of tax ombudsmen, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili
said on Friday at the opening of the new building of the economic zone
in the village Lilo, near Tbilisi, News Georgia reports. The president
said that "despite impressive ratings in Georgia, there are still many
gaps in relations between the government and entrepreneurs," and the
government needs to create a much better business environment in the
country.

From the 1st of January, the new Tax Code, approved by parliament in
September, will come into force in Georgia.
