The Russian Investigation Committee has questioned the head crew
member, Zakarzh Zakarzhayev, of the Tu-154 that made an emergency
landing at the airport of Domodedovo on Saturday, RIA Novosti reports,
citing a police source.
The Tu-154 plane of Dagestan Airlines was flying from Moscow to
Makhachkala. During the landing the plane went off the runway,
breaking into three parts. There were 163 passengers and 9 crew
members on board. Two passengers died, including the brother of the
Dagestani president and the mother of a judge of the Russian
Constitutional Court, over 80 were injured.
The crew's chief is in the intensive care ward, but can talk. The
investigation is mainly interested in the actions taken by each member
of the crew and their physical and psychological condition before
take-off
The investigation asked the crew chief why he did not change the plane
after its engines were fixed at the airport in Makhachkala on the
runway and whether the aircraft had any malfunctions at Vnukovo.
Dagestan Airlines says that the aircraft had a major repair in 2009.
The investigation said that the flight recorder shows that two engines
turned off at a 9-kilometre altitude, one was malfunctioning until
landing.
