BP-Azerbaijan will not raise prices for BTJ oil

BP-Azerbaijan declined the proposal of the Turkish company Botas to
raise prices for oil pumping on the Turkish section of the
Baku-Tbilisi-Jeykhan (BTJ) pipeline.

The head of BP-Azerbaijan, Rashid Javanshir, said that the prices for
transit had been agreed on by all participants of the consortium, and
decisions to raise prices should be made in concert, Turkish newspaper
Vatan reports. Javanshir also commented on the lawsuit of Botas
against BTC Co, saying that they will not come to an agreement on the
lawsuit.

BTJ has exported over 1.063 billion barrels of oil, or approximately
142 tons, in the last four years.

Botas International Limited (BIL) is the operator of the Turkish
section of the pipeline. It sued the BTC Co consortium in 2009 for
increasing the expenses of Botas on exploitation of the oil pipeline,
coming from the gas prices that rose by 73%. The sides have not come
to an agreement.

Botas continues using the BTJ. It expected $300 million revenues from
the pipeline, but it had expenses equal to $210 million instead.

Turkish media report that Botas asked the Turkish government to provide aid.
