Russia to toughen registration rules in major cities

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin says that the local laws and
traditions in major cities may be adjusted if migrants violate them,
RIA Novosti reports.

The premier said that the power of Russia is its multinationality.
Misuse of power may result in damage.

Putin believes that officials from national communities should prevent
violations and crime in their areas, Interfax reports.

He said that this statement concerns Russian communities living in the
Caucasus as well.

The prime minister visited the Ministry of Tourism, where he met
representatives of football fan organizations, including fans of the
clubs of the North Caucasus.

Two weeks ago Moscow saw a protest by football fans, due to the
release of men involved in a fight which resulted in the death of a
Spartak football club fan, Yegor Sviridov. The protest turned into
mass civil disorders.

Last week Putin held a televised Q&A session, in which he said that
the disorders were not caused by the murder of the football fan but by
an improper reaction on the part of the authorities. He emphasized
that the issue does not allow anyone to break the law.
