The governor of Krasnodar Territory, Alexander Tkachov, approved
establishment of the federal road fund proposed by the government on May
19th. The fund will build and reconstruct roads, accumulating minimal
finances for road network upkeep, Yuga.ru reports.
The roads are currently financed within the federal program of
modernizing Russian transport system (2002-2010). In 2009 the federal
budget issued 342.9 billion rubles on roads, 104.3 billion of them are
subsidies for budgets of Russian subjects.
RIA Novosti reported that the governor does not support the transport
tax proposed. The issues will be reconsidered in the near future.
