President of Olimpstroy resigns (UPDATED)

The president of Russia's Olimpstroy, Taymuraz Bolloyev, has resigned
due to health problems, the press-service of the state corporation
told RIA Novosti on Monday.

The Komsomolskaya Pravda paper says that the Deputy Transport Minister
Oleg Belozyorov (aged 41), Deputy Minister of Regional Development
Yuri Relyans (46) and Vice-President of the Russian Railways Oleg Toni
(46) are the possible replacements.

Interfax says that the Investigation Committee and the Main Police
Department in the Krasnodar Territory initiated six criminal cases
related to corruption. Over 23 million rubles were illegally received
in 2007-2010. The six cases refer to employment of staff with fake
documents.

27 corruption cases were initiated in Sochi in 2010, this exceeds the
number of cases in 2009 by 8, deputy head of the investigation
department in Sochi Alexey Kramarenko said. He clarified that 11 cases
were initiated against the administration of Sochi, police and
municipal authorities. The total sum of bribes exceeded a million
rubles.

It is the third president resigning in the corporation in the last
three years. The first head of Olimpstroy, former head of Transneft,
Semyon Vaynshtok was resigned due to retirement age. He was replaced
by the ex-Mayor of Sochi Victor Kolodyazhny in April 2008. He resigned
in 2009.

Bolloyev is the founder of Baltika beer company and became the
president of Olimpstroy in June 2009. He was the former vice-president
of the corporation.

Olimpstroy was founded in November 2007. The corporation coordinates
projecting and construction of Olympic facilities and the necessary
infrastructure in Sochi, using budget funds. 6 out of 14 sports
facilities of the state corporation receive investments, including the
bob-sleigh track for 11,000, launching pad training complex,
figure-skating ice center for 12,000.
