Officials from South Ossetia, Georgia, Russia, the EU Monitoring
Mission and the OSCE visited the village of Ergneti, where the they
talked about the mechanisms of preventing and reacting to incidents,
Res reports.
The head of the South Ossetian delegation, Merab Chigoyev, said that
they discussed the situation in the border zone of South Ossetia and
Georgia. The previous meeting was held on December 10, 2010. The
situation was more peaceful than it was before the previous meeting.
Few minor incidents were registered. Yet the number of illegal
Georgian migrants increased, especially in the Znaur District, he
said.
Chigoyev noted that Georgian intelligence activities have increased.
There were 14 air space violations by Georgian drones. The latest
violation was registered last night, when a drone was circling around
Tskhinvali.
The topic of missing South Ossetian citizens was raised. Georgian and
OSCE officials had no information on the citizens, Chigoyev said.
Concerning gas supplies to the Leningor District of South Ossetia,
Chigoyev said that South Ossetia will rehabilitate the headgates and
irrigation canals for Georgia as soon as Georgia and South Ossetia
provide gas for the district.
Chigoyev reminded his listeners that the next meeting is scheduled for March 11.
The agreement on the mechanisms of preventing and reacting to
incidents were made within the fourth round of talks on security in
the Trans-Caucasus, held in Geneva in February 2009.
