Georgian-NATO cooperation program approved

The National Georgian-NATO Cooperation program for 2011 has been
approved, Trend cites the press-service of Georgian government as
saying.


Georgia will continue reforms in spheres of politics, economy, defense
and security, law and education, making sure they meet the NATO
standards.


NATO is expected to pass the plan on February 11. The First Deputy
Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration Yelena Khoshtaria and the
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tornike Gorgadze will visit
Brussels for the issue.


The alliance did not present the "membership plan" to Georgia in 2008.
Georgia and NATO cooperate basing on annual plans.


The national program for 2011 contains the plan of reforms in
politics, economy, law, education, defense and security.


The annual national program, together with the NATO-Georgian
commission, is the main instrument for Georgian membership in the
alliance. NATO gave a positive rating to the programs of 2009-2010.


The third phase of the program will be realized in 2011.
