Russian President Dmitry Medvedev made a surprise visit to Moscow's
Vnukovo International Airport on Friday and declared himself satisfied
with the security regime, RIA Novosti reports.
"At practically any piece of transport infrastructure the number of
[security personnel] is insufficient, despite the fact that here [at
Vnukovo] there is order, in contrast to the situation yesterday [at
Moscow's Kievsky railway station]," Medvedev said.
Medvedev paid a surprise visit to Kievsky Station on Thursday and
criticized the authorities for failing to ensure proper security. He
ordered rail monopoly Russian Railways (RZD) to take steps to ensure
security on the rail network and report back to him within three days.
After the surprise check on the security situation at Vnukovo,
Medvedev went on to the VIP terminal to fly to the southwest Russian
republic of Bashkiria for a State Council Presidium meeting.
