Calls for revolution are counter-productive, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov said, commenting on the events in the Middle East, RIA Novosti reports.
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak resigned last Friday and handed the powers to the Council of the Armed Forces. The disorders in Egypt in late January were preceded by unrest in Tunisia. Mass protests were seen in Bahrain, Algiers and Yemen on Monday.
Lavrov said at a conversation with his UK counterpart William Hague that Russia will not support a single revolution.
The Russian minister underlined that the key to solving the situation in the Middle East is the world society, which needs to persuade each side to start a dialogue. The main goal is to avoid interfering with advice.
