Chechnya has started issuing free subsidies for farmers whose lands
were stricken with droughts in the summer of 2010.
The Russian Finances Ministry provided 164.328 million rubles,
press-service of the republic's authorities reports.
Hamid Usmanov, head of the section for economy and investment policy
of the Agriculture Ministry, said that the funds are a budget credit
and the Chechen government will return it to the federal budget in
three years.
Usmanov said that 25,000 out of 84,000 hectares of lands were affected
by droughts last year. 140 peasant farm enterprises and some 120 state
unitary enterprises of Chechen agro-industry will receive support.
Subsidies will be provided for purchasing seeds, fuel, plant
protection and mineral fertilizers.
