Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri hopes for common management of
the border with Armenia, News Armenia reports.
Georgia has had such management with Turkey since June 1, Gilauri said
at a joint briefing with his Armenian counterpart, Tigran Sargsyan.
Gilauri noted that they talked about issues of mutual interest,
economic topics and the prospects of joint management of customs
points.
He said that the sides considered how to cope with inflation. Gilauri
pointed out that Armenia and Georgia have many common programs and may
exchange experience.
Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan recalled that Armenia has
obligatory insurance for vehicles since January 2011. Georgian
vehicles need to purchase insurance when crossing the border. He noted
that that Georgia has adopted a paying system for road security for
freighters.
Sargsyan said that they discussed economic cooperation. They reached
agreement on further activities in forming a system of common customs
points, road construction and the crossing of Armenian-Georgian border
via transport.
Sargsyan added that they talked about social-economic issues, coping
with inflation and exchanged experience in solving this problem. They
discussed the realization of an agreement signed by the Armenian and
Georgian Presidents, Serzh Sargsyan and Mikheil Saakashvili, during
Saakashvili’s visit to Armenia on January 22-23.
