Turkey will not give way to pressure from any state over its relations with Armenia, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmed Davutoglu said, Armenia Today reported on Tuesday.
“We will not allow anyone to exert pressure on Turkey over issues which we cannot give way on,” Davutoglu told journalists at a joint news conference in Ankara with his Mauritania counterpart Naha Mint Munkass.
The Foreign Affairs Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives voted on March 4 by 23-22 in support of a resolution to recognize as genocide the killings of Armenians by Turks in 1915. The resolution will now go the whole House of Representatives for a vote. Analysts say the resolution will have a tough time. The date for the vote has yet to be set.
Soon after Congress’s vote, Turkey recalled its ambassador, Namika Tana, from Washington for consultations. Davutoglu said he will meet Tana for discussions.
