Revolutions lift Arab states from isolation

The revolutions taking place in a series of Arab states have lifted their historic isolation, the General Secretary of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Ihsanoglu said that African, Asian, post-Soviet, Latin American and Eastern European states are moving towards democracy as part of the global historical process.

He believes that the revolutions and mass protests in the Islamic world are a striving for liberty, democracy, stability and welfare. It is not a process caused by foreign agents.

The Middle East and North Africa have been experiencing mass protests in the last months, leading to a change of power in Egypt and Tunisia. Disorders are continuing in Libya and Yemen.
Algiers, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Morocco and Oman saw protests.

The most violent processes are being seen in Libya, where up to 6,000 people have died.
