Iranian opposition protestors took the streets in Tehran on Tuesday, leading to clashes with police, Reuters reports. The police used tear-gas to break up the demonstration.
The clashes took place on Revolution Square. The opposition was provoked by the arrests of two leaders of the opposition, former presidents Mishossein Musavi and Mehdi Kjarubi. Officials denied this information and said the opposition leaders were at home.
The internal political situation in Iran has become exacerbated since the presidential elections of 2009. The opposition accuse the authorities of ballot-rigging after Ahmadinejad received 60% of the votes.
