Turkish President Abdullah Gul is continuing meetings in Ghana, making a speech to a local parliament. He noted that Turkey has increased the number of its embassies in Africa. The president also noted the great potential for relations between Turkey and African states, TRT reports.
The president said that Turkey is the 16th top world economy and 6th in Europe. Turkey is realizing projects with 37 countries of the African continent and carries out humanitarian and economic activities, using three offices of the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Development and non-governmental organizations.
After the meeting at the parliament, Gul had talks with the President of Ghana, John Evans Atta Mills. The sides signed an agreement on lifting the visa regime for holders of diplomatic passports. Bilateral agreements were signed on military and political spheres and healthcare.
Mills expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral relations. Gul visited a Turkish school in Ghana. The Turkish president noted the contribution of teachers of the Turkish language in education.
