Russian Deputy Prosecutor General Ivan Sydoruk said the targeted programs to fight against the terrorism and extremism in the subjects of the Southern Federal District are ineffective, RIA Novosti reports.
According to Sydoruk, the programs work usually only on paper. In addition, he criticized the lack of law-enforcement agencies in combating terrorism and extremism.
He added that there are cases of procession violations in the investigation of criminal cases related to terrorism and extremism. Thus, there were 49 such criminal cases in the investigative bodies in 2010, while only 8 of them were directed to the court.
In general, according to Sydoruk, the number of crimes of extremism grew by 55% in 2010 in Russia.
