Turkey to continue providing humanitarian assistance to Libya

Turkey will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to Libya in the framework of the NATO operation "United defender", which aims at ensuring an embargo on arms, no-fly zone and measures to protect civilians, said on Monday in Ankara, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu after talks with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, RIA Novosti reports.

According to Davutoglu, Turkey evacuated from Libya 475 people, 350 among them are injured.

On March 17 the UN Security Council adopted a resolution calling for the introduction of a no-fly zone over Libya and foreign military intervention. On March 19 the coalition forces of Britain, France, USA, Canada, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Denmark and Norway started a military operation in Lybia. Turkey, which was originally against military operations in Libya, later joined the alliance and sent five military ships, one submarine and 12 fighters.
