Iran and Belarus to expand agroindustrial cooperation

Iran and Belarus plan to expand cooperation in agroindustry, the Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture and Food told BELTA, Trend reports.

The issue was discussed between the Belarusian Minister of Agriculture and Food, Mikhail Rusy, and the Iranian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Belarus, Seyed Abdollah Khosseini.

They discussed the realization of an investment project with 100% Iranian capital, the construction of a sheep-breeding farm by Eastern Sheep in the Logiyski District. A land spot was provided for 99 years, covering 2,700 hectares. The farm will have 10,000 sheep.

The sides confirmed realization of joint projects in the fishing industry and flower-growing. Mikhail Rusy noted that Iranian companies are interested in biogas facilities based on Belarusian animal breeding complexes.

The minister recalled that earlier deals allowed Iran to receive 1,000 tons of meat from Belarus in 2011.
Mikhail Rusy thanked the ambassador for expressing his condolences over the tragedy of the terrorist attack in the Minsk subway.

Trade turnover between the structures of the Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Iran reached $1.6 million in 2010. Meat, milk and concentrated cream are the main exports to Iran. Ethylene polymers are the main imports to Belarus.
