CSTO summit starts in Moscow

An informal summit of the presidents of the member-states of the
Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) in Moscow today will
scrutinise the situation in Kyrgyzia and other important international
issues, Vesti reports.
A high-ranking Kremlin spokesman said "the informal nature of the
event doesn't preclude the acceptance of joint statements on the
issues discussed during the meeting".
The military-political union of the CSTO comprises Armenia, Belorus,
Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzia, Russia, Tadzhikistan and Uzbekistan. Russian
President Dmitri Medvedev wrote to invite them to Moscow for the
ceremonies marking the 65th Anniversary Victory Day and to participate
at summits of the CSTO and CIS.
Medvedev's assistant Sergei Prihodko said that the Kyrgyz delegation
would not participate in the informal summits. "Their constitutional
organs are not yet formed, and they did not bring up their
participation in these summits", he explained.
