Chechnya and Abkhazia sign protocol on intentions

In Parliament House in Grozny a protocol on intentions between the
Chechen Republic and the Republic of Abkhazia was signed by Chechen
government representative Odes Baisultanov and Abkhaz premier Sergei
Shamba, with the participation of other high-ranking Chechen
government and parliamentary figures, reports the Chechen
parliamentary press service.
Chechen parliamentary representative Dukuvaha Abdurahmanov recalled
that the two republics were not only united by business cooperation,
but most importantly by the idealogical and spiritual ties between
their peoples, and that the meeting was evidence that friendship
between the two republics would continue to strengthen.
The protocol is aimed at increasing joint cooperation in trade and
agriculture, on the bases of equality, trust and mutual benefit , as
well as to develop ties in the cultural, educational, scientific,
sporting and tourism spheres.
"Abkhazi and Chechnya have travelled almost the same road",
Baisultanov said. "Practically all aspects of everyday life were
destroyed by war. We understand how difficult it is to raise a ruined
republic up again. Thanks to president Kadyrov, the Chechen people
have managed to overcome all these difficulties and in a short period
we have gone from a reconstruction program to dynamic development".
The Chechen prime minister added that Chechnya was ready to offer any
help to Abkhazia.
For his part, Sergei Shamba noted that he had seen transformed towns
and villages and no signs of the destruction of the previous war, and
particularly praised the situation in the capital. He added that the
work carried out by the authorities and people of Chechnya was a
positive example for Abkhazia to follow.
