Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Tuesday after talks with his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad that both countries want the establishment of a nuclear-free zone in Middle East, reports RIA Novosti.
Medvedev said that the talks had seen a discussion on the Iranian nuclear issue. Both presidents have pointed out the right of each state to a peaceful nuclear program.
Medvedev also urged the international community to prevent "tension in the Middle East, which may result in a catastrophe."
