Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan unveiled plans Wednesday for a restructuring of some of the ministries in the Cabinet, Hurriyet reports.
Six new ministries will be formed while some existing ministries will be merged, Erdoğan announced during a press conference.
The new ministries include "family and social planning, the European Union, economy, youth and sports, customs and trade, as well as and development,” he said.
The Industry and Trade Ministry will now become the Industry and Technology Ministry, the Environment and Forestry Ministry will be merged with the Housing Ministry to form the Environment, Forestry and Urbanization Ministry, while the Agriculture Ministry will become the Food, Agriculture and Stockbreeding Ministry.
The new Cabinet structure has 25 ministers, including the prime minister.
Erdoğan said the new Cabinet to be formed after the June 12 elections would be formed based on the restructured ministry system.
