Seventeen Turkish citizens detained in Georgia were to be released on Thursday, Hurriyet Daily News cites a statement by the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
The decision to release these people was reached after a meeting between Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili on May 31 at the Sarp border gate, the statement says.
The issue of Turkish nationals being arrested by the Georgian authorities is a long-term problem and Ankara frequently urges Georgia to release its citizens.
