Georgia forbids protesters to own weapons and establish illegal formations

Amendments to the law on protests ban ownership of weapons, alcoholic
drinks and organization of illegal formations. They were introduced to
the parliament on Wednesday, News Georgia reports.


Protesters are not allowed to damage monuments, memorials or other
buildings. Protests must be held 20 meters away from court
prosecutor's offices, police, prisons, military bases, railways and
airports. The amendments also forbid blockades of roads and railways.


Citizens aged under 18 and foreigners are not allowed to attend protests.
The amendments were developed by Pavle Kublashvili, Chiora
Taktakishvili, Kakha Anjaparidze and Akakiy Minashvili.


The police of Tbilisi had a crackdown on protesters on Rustaveli
Square on May 26. The protests were organized by the People's
Assembly. 105 people were detained. 4 people died.
