Collective Security Treaty Organization will not bring in peacekeepers
to Kyrgyzstan to settle the situation, Interfax reports, citing the
Secretary-General of the organization Nikolay Bordyuzha.
At the moment approximately 3-4 thousand members of Ata-Meken
(Motherland) party gathered on the square at Kyrgyz parliament where the
interim government is to express their support of the new authorities of
the republic and demand bringing to responsibility of those who
attempted to to take over the power in the south of the country.
The participants believe that the responsibility belongs to the ex-mayor
of Bishkek Nariman Tiuleyev, leader of the Communist Party Iskhak
Masaliyev and the former advisor of the ex-president Usen Sydykov. The
leader of Ata-Meken is Omurek Tekebayev, Vice-Premier of the interim
government on constitutional reform.
At the same time a group of 3 thousand people gathered at the office of
the first Vice-Premier Almazbek Atambayev of social-democratic party in
Bishkek, they are planning to head to the parliament. They support the
interim government.
The situation in the south of Kyrgyzstan remains tense. Bakiyev’s
supporters took control over state administration buildings in
Batkenkaya, Jalal-Abadskaya and Oshrskaya regions on Thursday.
According to the latest information, appointees of the interim government returned to work in Oshe but several hundreds of ex-president’s supporters gathered in the central square. Negotiations with the opposing side are taking place in Batken. There were clashes between supporters and opposition of the interim government in Jalal-Abad, both sides used guns, sticks and stones. Three people were wounded, one receiving a
gunshot.
