Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad held talks on political and economic cooperation with his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai in Kabul on Wednesday, reports ITAR-TASS.
The meeting in the Afghan capital was the first between the two presidents since both were reelected last year. Ahmadinejad said that the presence of foreign troops in Afghanistan would not solve Afghanistan’s problems. "We do not see the presence of foreign military forces in Afghanistan as a solution for peace in Afghanistan," Ahmadinejad told a joint news conference with Karzai.
One of the topics discussed was the planned building of a railway between Tajikistan and Iran, to pass through Afghanistan.
