Georgian president and Polish PM discuss Eastern Partnership summit

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and Polish Prime Minister
Donald Tusk have discussed the coming Eastern Partnership summit in
September, Trend reports.


The talks were held as part of a meeting of the European People’s
Party (EEP)in Brussels. The Eastern Partnership summit will be held in
Warsaw.


Saakashvili and Tusk discussed European integration of Georgia. Poland
will support the process as the EU chairman.


The Georgian president was invited to Brussels by the President of the
EPP, Wilfried Martens. They had a meeting prior to the party’s
session. They talked about European integration, security and reforms
in Georgia.


Saakashvili invited Martens to visit Georgia.


Mikheil Saakashvili attended the summit of the European People’s Party
in Brussels in March. It is the largest pan-European party, founded in
1976. It includes members of the national Christian democrats and
other national parties in the EU with a similar ideology. The ruling
United National Movement Party is a member of the largest group in the
European Parliament – the European People’s Party.


Leaders and heads of European governments traditionally take part in
the EPP summits.
