Russia and Japan establish joint commission for peace treaty

Russia and Japan have organized a joint commission of historians to
study a peace treaty and territorial issues. The commission may have
its first meeting in December 2011, head of the Russian Presidential
Administration Sergey Naryshkin said in Tokyo, RIA Novosti reports.


The two states have disagreements on the causes and results of World War II.


The Russian side of the commission will be headed by the Rector of the
Moscow State University of Foreign Affairs, Torkunov. The Japanese
side was formed from specialists of the Defense Academy.
