Search for Azerbaijani plane’s black box hampered by relief and weather

Search for Azerbaijani plane’s black box hampered by terrain and weather The search for the black boxes of the Azerbaijani plane that crashed recently in Afghanistan is being hampered by adverse weather conditions and the scale of damage to the plane itself, Afghan officials say, Trend reports.

The aircraft crashed outside the village of Aksa on Tuesday in Parwan province, all crew members were killed.

The Azerbaijani Civil Aviation Administration earlier reported that the captain of the aircraft, 42-year-old Sergey Kuzmin, is an experienced pilot with 4,576 hours of professional flight experience. He said the cargo aircraft of the Azerbaijani cargo airline Silk Way crashed into a mountain not far from Aksa at 11:00 pm [Afghani local time].

He added that a special group consisting of police officers and local authorities has already begun investigating this case. He said he is aware of the presence of 8 people on board. Taliban spokesman Zabibulla Mojaddadi disputed information about the aircraft being shot down.

It is assumed that the plane may have encountered an unknown object in the air, as information about an emergency situation was not reported by the flight crew until the connection was lost.

A total of 18 tons of cargo was on board the plane en route from Baku to Bagram. The plane picked up its cargo at the Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport and took off at 21:26 (Azerbaijani local time).
