As EU chair, Poland will focus on economic development, security and an open Europe

Poland has announced its priorities for its six-month chairmanship of
the EU, which will focus on three main directions – economic
development, security and an open Europe, Trend reports.

Poland takes over chairmanship of the EU on the first of July, after
the expiration of Hungary’s term.

Poland will be confronted with numerous problems, but will mainly
focus on three main areas: economic development, security, and the
openness of Europe, the new chairman announced.

In the field of foreign policy, Poland will further contribute to the
development of the Eastern Partnership program with eastern neighbors
of the EU, as well as support the process of Turkey's accession to the
EU.

Since the Treaty of Lisbon in 2009, the presiding country does not
head either of the two main European Councils  - the General Affairs
Council and the Council on Foreign Relations - therefore the actions
of Poland regarding foreign policy will be limited.
